FoodSafe Certification Course

FoodSafe Level 1 Certification Course

Course Duration: 8 hours

Languages: English, Cantonese and Mandarin

Eligibility: Age 15 and up

Due to limited quota, please register as early as possible.

The course is taught by certified food safe instructor.

Passing Requirements

  • Written Exam – 100%
  • Participation – 70%

If you score between 60% and 69% on the first exam attempt, you have not passed the course, but a free re-exam will be arranged. Otherwise, re-enrollment is required

Certification

  • Certificate is issued by Vancouver Coastal Health
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certificate (valid for 5 years)
  • Around 1 month after passing the examination, CCM will notify students by email to collect their certificates at CCM Burnaby office or Richmond office.

Course Content

A food handling, sanitation and work safety course designed for food service establishment operators and front line service workers such as cooks, servers, bussers, dishwashers, and deli workers. The course covers important food safety and worker safety information including foodborne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing food, and serving food, cleaning and sanitizing.

  • Participation – 100%

Certification

  • Certificate is issued by Vancouver Coastal Health
  • FoodSafe Level 2 certificate
  • Around 1 month after passing the examination, CCM will notify students by email to collect their certificates at CCM Burnaby office or Richmond office.

Course Content

Includes modules on Managing for Food Safety and Writing a Food Safety Plan.

For food service owners, managers, kitchen mangers, and executive chefs who have taken FoodSafe Level 1.

NOTE:
Student must hold a valid FoodSafe Level 1 certificate with a passing grade of at least 90%.

Textbook is in English, exam will be answered in English. No re-take for exam.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Class will only open with a minimum of 10 students. Classes are subject to change with a notice 5 working days in advance.
  2. Payment due upon registration.
  3. Cancellation and Refund policy
    • 3.1 CCM may change the date of a course or cancel a course due to inadequate number of participants or unexpected circumstances. A prior notice will be emailed to customers at least 5 working days in advance. Customers may choose other class or a full refund of the course fee.
    • 3.2 Customers may request for cancellation or swapping of class under the following conditions:

      Class Cancellation Application
      Cancellation made 28 days or more before the class start date: Refundable with a deduction of an administration fee of $15.
      Cancellation made 1–27 days before the class start date: Refundable with a deduction of an administration fee of $25.


      If valid proof (e.g. a doctor’s note or prescription) is provided to show the cancellation is due to health reasons, the administrative fee will be waived.

      Cancellation made on the class start date: Non-refundable.


      Refundable request will only if be considered under exceptional circumstances with a doctor’s note, but a $25 administrative fee will still apply.

      Swap Class Application
      Request to swap class 28 or more days prior to the class start date: Free
      Request to swap class 1–27 days before the class start date: A $25 administrative fee applies.

      If valid proof (e.g., a doctor’s note or prescription) is provided to show the transfer request is due to health reasons, the administrative fee will be waived.
      Request to swap class on the class start date: Transfers are not available.

      Transfer requests on the day of class will only be considered under exceptional circumstances with a doctor’s note.
